Our shop is located on the first floor of The Mall in Malad West. We are in shop number 33, which is right across from Vasant Plaza. It’s a busy spot, especially on weekends when everyone is out shopping for weddings or gifts. The mall has that specific smell of air conditioning and floor cleaner that you get used to after a while. We spend a lot of time behind the glass counters, cleaning the smudges off the display cases. It’s a small space, but we manage to fit a lot of jewelry in here. You’ll see a lot of traditional art styles in our pieces because that’s what we mostly handle. Sometimes the lighting in the mall flickers a bit, but we have our own lamps to make sure we can see the fine details on the gold and stones. Dealing with jewelry means a lot of squinting and using those little magnifying glasses. We see all kinds of people coming through the doors. Some are just looking, others know exactly what they want. It gets pretty loud with the chatter from the hallway and the music playing from the speakers near the elevators. We usually have lunch in the back room while one person stays out front. It’s not a glamorous life, just steady work with metal and gems in a corner of Jb Nagar. We’ve been here for a good while now.
