We are over on Surat Street at Survey No 57. The office is in Chheda Bhavan, up on the first floor. It is an old-school kind of place, which really fits what we do at R P Gupta Transport Pvt Ltd. Being on Surat Street, we are right in the middle of all the commercial action. There are always trucks and tempos moving around outside our windows. Chheda Bhavan has that classic Bombay feel to it—heavy doors, thick walls, and narrow hallways. We have been on the first floor for quite some time now. Our office is mostly filled with ledgers and maps and people talking on the phone about different routes and deliveries. It is not a polished corporate headquarters with a glass front. It is a place where real work gets done and heavy things get moved across the country. The air usually smells a bit like diesel and old paper, which is just part of the transport business. We have a small team here, and everyone knows exactly what they are supposed to do. Sometimes the power goes out or the elevator is acting up, so we just take the stairs like everyone else. It is a no-nonsense environment. We do not have a big marketing department or anything. People know us through word of mouth and because they see our name on the paperwork. It is just us, the trucks, and the open road. We stay busy and we stay focused on the tasks that come our way every single morning.
