Purnima Plastic Industries

Our place is Gala Number 4 in the Victory Industrial Estate out in Vasai East. Being in Palghar means we are a bit far from the main city, but this is where all the factories are. Purnima Plastic Industries is mostly just me and a couple of workers. We have these big molding machines that take up most of the space in the gala. When they are running, the whole floor vibrates and it gets really warm. We make plastic parts, mostly for household items or small tools. It’s repetitive work, watching the parts pop out of the molds and checking them for errors. Sometimes the plastic doesn't melt right and we have to start over. The industrial estate is a busy spot. There is always the sound of someone welding or a truck reversing nearby. We get our tea from the small cart that comes around twice a day. During the monsoon, the roof leaks a little in the corner, so we have to move the stock around to keep it dry. We’ve been here for quite some time now and we know all the other gala owners. We help each other out with tools or extra hands when needed. It’s a tough environment but we’ve gotten used to the noise and the heat. We don't have any big slogans or goals. We just want to make sure the orders are ready on time so we can go home to our families.
