Mehta Surgical Emporium

Mehta Surgical Emporium is on Princess Street, which is famous for all sorts of medical and surgical shops. We are on the first floor of the Kesar Building, right across from the Geeta Bhavan Hotel. This area is always crowded and a bit chaotic, but that’s the way Princess Street has always been. Our shop is full of all kinds of surgical goods. We’ve been here for a long time, so we’ve seen the street change quite a bit over the decades. The building is one of those old Mumbai structures with high ceilings and narrow stairs. We have a lot of regular customers who come to us from all over the city. They know we have a bit of everything tucked away in our cupboards. We don’t bother with fancy displays or lighting. We just keep our stock organized in a way that makes sense to us. It can be a bit dusty sometimes with all the paperwork and old boxes, but it’s a real working shop. We spend our days talking to customers, taking orders over the phone, and keeping track of our inventory. It’s a busy life, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. People know they can come to us for their needs and we’ll tell them honestly what we have in stock.
