Popular Hair Cutting Salon is located down at 38/D on H G Road, which most people around here just call Grant Road. We’re right in that busy stretch of Mumbai where there is always something happening out on the street. It is near Hair Hand Road, and if you have ever walked through this part of town, you know it is never quiet for even a minute. The shop itself is small, just like most of the spots in this neighborhood, but we make it work for us. Every morning we roll up the metal shutter and start getting the chairs and the combs ready. The mirrors have been on the walls for years and they have seen a lot of different people come and go. We don't spend money on big glowing signs or anything like that because everyone who lives nearby already knows where we are located. It is a lot of hard work keeping the place tidy with all the foot traffic and dust outside, but we try our best to keep it clean. Sometimes we just sit on the little bench outside when things are slow and watch the taxis go by in the heat. The regulars come in and they don’t even have to say what they want done anymore. We just know their style. It is not a fancy life, but being part of the Grant Road daily grind is what we know best.
