Our office is 307 B in Alka Apartment over in Andheri West. It is one of those buildings where the lift works most of the time, but we usually just take the stairs anyway. Dealing with chemicals and dyes isn't the most glamorous job in the world. Our desks are usually covered in sample jars and color charts that have seen better days. The light in the office is a bit dim, but we know where everything is. Andheri is always a chaotic place to work. You can hear the rickshaws honking from the street all day long. We have been supplying local businesses for years now. Most of our clients just call us on the phone, so we don't get many visitors. When someone does come by, they usually get lost in the hallway first. We keep a ledger for all the stock, and sometimes the ink smudges because the humidity is so high. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in the city. We just want to make sure the orders go out on time and the colors match what the customer asked for. It is a lot of checking and re-checking. Sometimes the warehouse sends the wrong shade of blue, and we have to spend the afternoon sorting it out. It is just a small team here, mostly family and a couple of friends. We drink way too much cutting chai while we wait for the transporters to arrive at the building.
