Our office is on the ground floor of Plot 90, which is the Rail View building. We are right on Lakhamshi Nappu Road in Dadar East. If you know Mumbai, you know Dadar is the heart of everything. The Rail View building is named that for a reason; you can hear the trains from the station nearby almost all day long. It is a constant rhythm that you eventually stop noticing. Being on the ground floor means we see everyone walking past the window on their way to the market or the station. It is a very lively part of the city. We have been here for a while, managing the Piccadle Inn business. The office itself is a bit small and can feel a bit cluttered with all the papers and folders we have to keep track of. There is always a layer of dust that comes in from the street, no matter how much we clean. That is just life in Dadar. We usually have a pot of tea going and some local snacks from the shops around the corner. It is a very busy atmosphere, but we like being in the middle of it all. People often knock on our door thinking we are a shop or asking for directions to the platform. We are just a small group of people working hard in a very central, noisy, and energetic part of Mumbai.
