Phoenix Colours

Phoenix Colours is situated in Malad East, specifically at Swamy Narayan Nagar C613 along Datta Mandir Road. It’s a dusty part of town because of all the construction, but we like it here. My family has been dealing with paints and pigments for a long time. The shop is full of tins and buckets stacked on heavy wooden shelves. Every time we open a new can, that strong smell of paint fills the air. It’s a smell I’ve grown to like over the years. We spend our days matching colors for people who are fixing up their homes. Sometimes someone comes in with a tiny piece of a broken tile and wants the exact same shade of blue. It takes a lot of squinting and mixing to get it right. The floor is covered in drips of every color you can imagine, which I guess is fitting for a place called Phoenix Colours. We don’t have a corporate office or a big team of designers. It’s just a few of us who know a thing or two about how paint behaves on a wall. We have an old ceiling fan that clicks constantly, but it keeps us cool during the hot Malad summers. We know most of the contractors who work in this area by their first names. It’s a quiet, steady kind of business for us.
