Petroleum Distributor

Our place is Shop Number 214 in the Phatnani Building. We’re out in Wadala on the Marve Road, not too far from the Bank of Baroda. Distribution is a bit of a dry business, but it keeps us on our toes. Wadala has a lot of trucks and industrial movement, so we fit right in. The shop itself is mostly for the administrative side of things. We have a lot of ledgers and receipts because dealing with petroleum means you have to keep track of every single drop and every single rupee. The building is an old one, with those thick walls that stay a bit cooler in the heat. We can hear the traffic from Marve Road all day long. It’s a constant hum of engines, which I guess is fitting for what we do. We aren't trying to sell anyone on anything; the product speaks for itself. People need fuel, and we make sure it gets distributed to the right spots. It’s a lot of coordination with tankers and drivers. Sometimes things get delayed, and we have to sit on the phone for hours to get it sorted. That’s just the nature of the job. It’s not glamorous, and our clothes usually smell a bit like the road by the end of the day. But it’s steady work and we’ve been at this shop for a long time now. We just keep the records straight and the trucks moving as best as we can.
