We are located at Shop 12 in the Sainath Shopping Centre on Veera Desai Road. It’s a busy part of Andheri West, so there is always a lot of traffic and noise outside. Inside the shop, it’s a bit different. We have plants all over the place. It gets a bit cramped when a new shipment comes in. You have to watch where you step because of the pots and the bags of soil on the floor. Most of our morning is spent watering everything and making sure the leaves look okay. The light isn't always great in the back of the shop, so we move things around a lot. It’s a small space, but we make it work. People walk in from the street just to look around or ask about a specific leaf. We aren't trying to be some high-end boutique. It’s just a place for plants in the middle of a crowded city. Sometimes the humidity inside makes it feel like a greenhouse. We deal with dirt under our fingernails every day. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know how to keep things green. It’s a lot of sweeping and cleaning up spilled water. Dealing with customers in Mumbai means you see all kinds of people every hour. We just keep doing what we do, one plant at a time, until it's time to pull down the shutters and go home.
