Pepi Cards

You can find Pepi Cards at Shop No 2 on the ground floor. We are inside the Laxmi Woollen Mills Estate, which is near Girgaon Gaiwadi. It’s an old industrial area, so the buildings have that worn-in look. We mainly deal with cards and paper products here. The shop is small and usually filled with stacks of different cardstocks. It’s a bit of a maze getting around the boxes sometimes. Working in the Charni Road area means we are right in the middle of everything. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going. I spend a lot of time showing people samples and talking about paper weights. It’s not the most glamorous job, but it’s what we know. We aren't trying to be some high-end design studio; we just provide cards for various occasions. People usually come to us because they’re already in the estate for other things. The estate itself is always humming with activity from other small businesses. We’ve been in this ground floor spot for a good while. Every now and then, we have to clear out the old stock to make room for new designs. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and dusting, really. We just keep at it and hope the customers are happy with what they get. It’s a basic, functional shop for people who need cards. The lighting isn't the best, so we take samples to the door to see the colors.
