Parwati Arts

We operate Parwati Arts out of number 69 at Kaytee Agencies in Parel Pirulane. It's a bit of a maze to find us if you aren't from around here. Our space is filled with all kinds of materials, from paints to different types of wood and fabrics. It’s not very organized, but we know where everything is. We spend most of our time making things by hand. It’s a slow process and you can’t really rush it. Some days we are just prepping surfaces and other days we are doing the final touches. We started this because we liked making things, and it turned into a full-time thing. There are always scraps of paper and bits of string on the floor. It’s a messy job but we don't mind. We don't really do big advertising. People mostly hear about us from their neighbors or friends. We handle a lot of small custom orders for local festivals and household decor. Every piece comes out a little different because they aren't made by a machine. Sometimes we stay late when a deadline is coming up for a local event. The lighting in the shop isn't the best, so we do the detail work near the window during the day. It’s just us doing what we know how to do. We don't have any fancy titles here. We just make art and try to keep the shop running. Most of the time, our hands are stained with whatever color we were using that morning.
