Paras Dyechem

Paras Dyechem has its place in Masjid Bunder West. We are over on Ranmukteshwar Road 13, on the 2nd Floor of building 56, Sheriff Devji. It’s a very old part of Mumbai. The stairs are narrow and steep, so carrying boxes up is a real workout every single day. We’ve been here for years, surrounded by other traders and wholesalers. The area is always crowded with handcarts and people rushing around. We deal in dyes and chemicals, mostly for the textile guys. The office has that old paper smell mixed with something slightly chemical. It’s not a place for fancy shoes. We keep everything organized in our own way, even if it looks like a mess to an outsider. My grandfather was in this trade too, so it’s in the family. We don't use any high-tech systems. We still use a lot of handwritten ledgers and simple registers. It works for us. The windows look out onto the street and you can hear the shouting of the vendors all day long. It's energetic but exhausting. We close up early on Saturdays to get some peace. If you're looking for us, just ask anyone on Sheriff Devji street. Most people know where number 56 is. We’re just regular folks trying to get the orders right and keep the business going. Sometimes the dust from the street gets in everything, so we are always wiping down the desks before we start the day.
