Palekar & Co.

Our office is in C Block of the Sitaram Building. It is right on Dr D N Road, which stays busy from morning until late at night. Being near Crawford Market means there is always noise and people rushing past the windows. Palekar & Co. has been operating out of this Fort area for quite some time. The building itself is old and has that specific smell of dust and old paper that you only find in south Mumbai. We have desks piled with files and the phone rings more often than we’d like. Sometimes the lift in the building acts up, so we end up taking the stairs. It keeps us moving. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to polish up how we look. It is just a handful of us here handling the paperwork and talking to people who walk in. Lunch usually happens at our desks or we grab something quick from the vendors outside. The Fort area has a lot of history, and you can feel it in the walls here. We try to keep things organized but on a busy Tuesday, that is easier said than done. We just do our work and go home like everyone else. It’s a bit cramped but it works for us. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but our spot in the Sitaram Building remains much the same as it always was.
