Working out of 18 G Ansa Industrial Estate in Saki Naka is definitely an experience. If you know Mumbai, you know how Saki Vihar Road gets during rush hour. It is total chaos out there. We spend a lot of our time just managing the boxes and making sure everything is labeled right before the trucks show up. The estate is packed with other businesses, so there is always someone moving something or shouting about a delivery. Our space is tucked away in the G block. It’s a bit cramped when we have a big shipment going out, but we make it work. Most of us have been here for years, so we know the shortcuts to avoid the worst of the traffic, though it doesn't always help. We handle a lot of different things for export, mostly just logistical stuff that people don't think about until they need it. The fans in the ceiling never seem to move enough air in the summer. We eat our lunch together near the front door where there’s a bit of a breeze. It is a grit-and-grind kind of place. We don’t have fancy brochures or a receptionist. Usually, you’ll just find one of us covered in tape or checking a manifest. It is just how we operate. We’ve been through floods and heatwaves in this building. Somehow, the orders always get out eventually. That is just life at Saki Naka for us. We just keep moving.
