Our place, Oswin Plastics, is over at 142/48 in the Ghaswala Industrial Estate. It is right on S.V. Road in Jogeshwari West. If you have ever driven down S.V. Road, you know how packed it gets. The estate is a bit tucked away, but once you get inside, it is a whole different world of machines and noise. We have a lot of plastic raw materials and finished goods stored in our unit. The space is filled with the sound of things being moved around. It is not a quiet office. There is always a hum in the background. We have a small area where we keep the books and handle the phone calls, but most of the action happens on the floor. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that right now. We drink a lot of chai from the stall just outside the estate gate. It is how we keep going during the long shifts. The rain in Mumbai can make things difficult sometimes, especially with the leaks in the old roof, but we manage. We aren’t trying to be anything we’re not. We just run a plastics business in a busy part of town. Most of our neighbors are doing similar industrial work, so we all understand each other. It is a hard-working atmosphere. We just focus on the orders and making sure the trucks are loaded correctly.
