Oriental Rug Weavers

You can find us at G-103 in Vardhaman Nagar, which is on Dr. R.P. Road in Mulund West. The shop is full of rugs, as you might expect from the name Oriental Rug Weavers. They are stacked high against the walls, and the smell of wool is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It is a bit of a tight squeeze to move around when we have a lot of inventory on the floor. I spend a lot of my time rolling and unrolling carpets to show people the patterns. My back usually aches by the end of the day from all the lifting. The lighting in G-103 is not the best, so we sometimes take the rugs out to the sidewalk to see the colors in the natural light. Mulund is a busy area, so there is always someone walking by and peeking in. The floor is concrete, and we keep it swept, but there is always a bit of lint floating around. We have a small desk in the back where we keep the receipts and a very old calculator that still works perfectly. It is not a polished retail store like you see in the malls. It is a working warehouse and shop combined into one. We do not have fancy displays, just the rugs themselves. Sometimes we sit on the stacks of carpets to have our lunch. It is a simple life and a simple business.
