The office for Oriental Residency Hotel Pvt.Ltd. is tucked away in the Samruddhi Building on S.V. Road. If you know Goregaon West, you know how busy it gets around here. It’s mostly us sitting in Room 404 dealing with the back-end stuff for the hotel business. It’s a lot of spreadsheets and phone calls with suppliers. We’ve been in this Mumbai neighborhood for a good stretch of time now. The building has that typical feel of an older business block. Sometimes the lift acts up, but we’re used to it. We handle the bookings and the maintenance schedules from here. It is not a glamorous job, but someone has to make sure the rooms are ready and the bills are paid. We don't really do the big marketing speeches. We’re just a group of people who know how to run a hotel. On rainy days, the noise from S.V. Road is constant, but it’s home. We usually grab tea from the stall downstairs and talk about what needs fixing next. Hospitality is basically just solving one problem after another. Whether it’s a leaky pipe or a guest who lost their key, we deal with it. We try to keep things straightforward. No one here wears a suit unless they have to. We just want the business to run smoothly so guests are happy when they stay with us. It’s hard work, but we like being part of the Goregaon community. Our space is small but we get everything done.
