People usually come here when they are in a hurry or need something quick for the house. We are tucked inside the N D Bhuta Chawl area in Old Nag. It’s a busy spot. Especially in the mornings when everyone is heading out for work. The shop has been here for a long while now. We keep all the basic medicines. You can also find regular stuff like soaps and powders. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded. The space isn't that big but we manage. My father used to sit here more often. Now I handle most of the day to day things myself. It’s mostly the same people from the neighborhood who stop by. We know which brand of toothpaste someone likes. We know who needs their blood pressure pills every month. It’s not a fancy place with bright lights or glass displays. Just a simple counter and wooden shelves filled up to the ceiling. Sometimes the delivery guys take forever to reach here. The lanes are very narrow around here. We just try to keep the stock ready. Nobody should have to go back empty handed. The weather gets really hot in Andheri East during the afternoons. It stays quiet for a couple of hours then. We just keep the fan running. We wait for the evening rush to start again when people come home from their offices. It’s just how things go here every day. It is simple enough for us.
