We are up on the eighth floor of the Bhoomi Gokul building in Goregaon East. Our office is A-804. It’s located right behind the Dindoshi Depot, so there are always buses moving around nearby. Being this high up gives us a bit of a view of the surrounding area, but we are usually too busy with our ledgers to look out the window. The office is a practical space designed for chartered accountancy work. We have rows of shelves for all the client files we have to keep for years. It’s a lot of paper, though more things are moving to the computer now. Our staff spends their days working through tax issues and auditing books for different companies. It’s not the most exciting work for everyone, but we find it satisfying to get the numbers to balance. The building is usually buzzing with other offices too. We don't have any polished corporate mission statements on the walls. We just have our workstations and the necessary equipment. Getting to Goregaon can be a bit of a trek in the Mumbai traffic, but we are here every morning ready to start. Some days the workload is heavy, especially during the tax season, and we stay late. Other times, it’s just the steady pace of monthly filings. We just focus on being accurate and getting the work done for the people who rely on us. It is just the daily grind of an accounting firm.
