Niyati Surgical is tucked into the Damodar Building on Princess Street. Being at number 107 in Dava Bazar means we are right in the thick of things. If you have ever walked through Dava Bazar, you know how crowded it gets with people and deliveries all day long. Our space is filled with surgical supplies, stacked up wherever they fit. It's an old building, the kind with thick walls and narrow stairs that have seen a lot of years. We spend a lot of our time sorting through boxes and helping people who find their way to our door. It gets quite noisy outside with the traffic and the shouting of the loaders, but we are used to it by now. The fan in the corner hums all afternoon while we check the stock lists. Princess Street has a specific smell to it, a mix of medicine and old paper. We don't have a big reception area or anything like that. It is just us and the shelves. Most days are busy, and there’s always something that needs moving or a drawer that gets stuck. We have been part of this market for a while, seeing the shops around us change while we stay mostly the same. It's a practical place for a practical kind of job. We just keep things moving and try to keep the boxes organized, even if it feels like we are constantly running out of space to put things.
