Nirmala Niketan College

Nirmala Niketan College is situated at 49 New Marine Lines, which is a pretty well-known spot in Mumbai. Being the College Of Home Science, we see a lot of activity every single day. The 400020 area is right near the water, and you can feel that sea breeze if you’re on the upper floors. It’s an old part of Maharashtra, and the building has that classic Mumbai character to it. We don't have fancy modern décor, but the rooms are large and high-ceilinged. The students are always busy with practicals or sitting in the library. It can get quite loud with the trains nearby and the city traffic, but you get used to it after a week or two. We work out of the main office, handling the registrations and the day-to-day issues that pop up in a big college like this. There’s always a line of people waiting for something or other. The staff knows most of the regulars by name. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes with all the different departments tucked away. We just try to keep things organized and make sure the students have a place to sit and study. It’s a practical kind of place. We’ve been here at New Marine Lines for a long time, and we’re just a staple of the community now. Nothing too flashy, just a solid college that has been around for decades.
