Niranjan Shah

If you ever find yourself in Kalbadevi, you know how loud and fast everything moves. I am Niranjan Shah, and my workspace is in Room No 603 of the Cotton Exchange B building. It is an old building with a lot of history in the walls. The elevator can be a bit slow some days, so I often find myself taking the stairs just to save time. It keeps me active, I guess. My room is tucked away on the sixth floor. It’s a quiet escape from the shouting and the horns on the street below. I have been here for a long time, and the desk I use was probably here before I was. I spend hours looking over documents and taking calls. The Cotton Exchange is a landmark, so people usually don’t have trouble finding the building, but the corridors inside can be a bit like a maze. I sometimes hear the neighbors talking through the thin walls, which reminds me I’m not alone in the hustle. I don’t use any fancy marketing tricks or have a shiny logo. It’s just my name on the door and the work I do inside. By the time I leave in the evening, the street lights are on and the tea vendors are packing up. It’s a long day, but it’s my life and I wouldn't change it for a flashy office elsewhere. I just keep at it.
