New Star Art Jewellery

New Star Art Jewellery is based in Malad East. We don't have a fancy storefront on a main road; we are just a regular shop in the neighborhood. We focus on art jewelry, which means a lot of small, colorful items that people like to wear for different occasions. The shop is usually filled with the sound of the radio playing in the background while we work. We spend a lot of time sorting through beads and small metal parts. It's a lot of sitting and looking closely at things. We don't have a big team of people. It’s just us handling the customers and looking after the stock. Some days are very busy, especially during the festival season when everyone wants something new to wear. Other days, we just sit and wait for someone to walk in. We keep the place tidy, but there are always little bits of string or empty boxes lying around. It feels like a real shop where people actually work. We don't use any complicated systems. We just write things down in a notebook and keep track of what we have. It’s a straightforward way of doing things that has worked for us so far. We just like what we do and we stay here in Malad East doing it day after day. It’s not a glamorous life, but it is our life and we are proud of the little shop we have built.
