New Sangam Transport Co

Being in Masjid Bunder West means there is never a quiet moment. Our shop is number 4 on the ground floor of Prashant Chambers. It's a busy place with trucks coming and going all day long. We handle a lot of transport work, mostly moving goods from one part of the city to another. The traffic near the mosque is always heavy, so our drivers have to be really patient. It’s not an easy job. We spend most of our day on the phone, tracking where the loads are. Sometimes things get delayed because of the rain or a road closure, and we have to explain that to the clients. We have been in this spot for years. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy to worry about that. My father started this and now I run it with some help. We keep a lot of logbooks and registers on the desks. It’s a bit messy but we know where everything is. People come in to negotiate rates or just to check if their stuff arrived safely. We drink coffee from the stall nearby to stay awake during the late shifts. It’s hard work, but it keeps us going. We are just a regular transport office trying to keep the wheels moving in this city. Sometimes the truck sounds are loud outside. We have some chairs for drivers to rest.
