NES Textiles

NES Textiles is located right in the middle of Kalbadevi. If you know the area, you know how packed it gets with people and carts moving fabric every which way. We are in one of those old buildings where the stairs are narrow and a bit steep. Our space is filled with rolls of cloth from floor to ceiling. It can be hard to move around sometimes because we have so much stock squeezed in. Kalbadevi is a place that never really sleeps, and the noise from the street comes right through the windows. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the trade. Most of our day is spent measuring, cutting, and talking to the transporters. We don't bother with fancy displays or anything polished. The light inside is a bit dim, but we have some bright lamps over the workspace so we can see what we are doing. Lunch is usually something we get from a local stall and eat quickly while sitting on a stool. We’ve seen many businesses come and go in this neighborhood, but we just keep doing our thing. It’s a tough place to work because of the heat and the crowds, but it’s where the heart of the textile trade is. We don't write big reports or have meetings. We just look at the cloth, check the threads, and get the bundles ready for whoever is picking them up.
