Sofia's Kashmir Boutique

Sofia's Kashmir Boutique is located inside the Hotel Oberoi Tower at Nariman Point. We’re in unit L-24. It’s a bit of a different environment being inside a big hotel. It’s a lot cleaner and quieter than the street markets, but it has its own kind of busy-ness. We spend our days surrounded by traditional items like shawls and embroidery. It’s a small shop, so things are packed in pretty tight. We don't have a huge staff, just a couple of us who know the items well. Most of our visitors are people staying at the Oberoi or folks who are in Nariman Point for business meetings. We don't really do any big marketing. We just keep the lights on and wait for people to wander in. It’s a nice enough place to spend the day. We spend a lot of time folding and refolding the fabrics to make sure they look okay. Nariman Point is always full of people in a rush, but inside the boutique, things move a bit slower. We’ve been here for quite some time now, and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the hotel. It’s a simple way to run a boutique, focusing on the products rather than fancy displays. We don't have a website or anything, just the physical shop where people can come and see things for themselves. It’s just our little corner of the tower.
