Murali Hotel

Murali Hotel is located on Khadilkar Road in Andheri East. We are on the first floor, which is right above the Thunga bus stop. This means there is always a crowd of people standing right below our windows. The noise of the buses idling and the conductors shouting is something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. You have to take the stairs to get up to us. They are a bit steep and the light in the stairwell is always flickering. Inside, the hotel is just a series of rooms and a small reception area. It’s not a fancy place with a lobby or a concierge. We do all the work ourselves, from checking people in to making sure the sheets are clean. We spend a lot of time dealing with the laundry. The water pressure in the building can be a bit temperamental, so we are often calling the plumber to look at the pipes. It’s an old building, and it shows. We don’t have a corporate office or a big team of managers. It’s just a few of us trying to keep the place tidy and functional. Andheri East is a hectic part of the city, and we are right in the middle of it. We don't have a fancy mission. We just try to make sure the rooms are ready for whoever walks up those stairs. It is just a simple business above a bus stop.
