M & Z Imports

M & Z Imports is located way up on the 10th floor. We are in office number 4 inside building number 3. It is part of the Navjivan Commercial Premises Co-operative Society Ltd on Lamington Road. Being near Mumbai Central Station means there is always a lot of noise and people moving around outside. Getting up to the 10th floor can take a minute if the lift is busy. We spend our time managing the import side of things from this small space. The view isn't much, but it's where we do all our work. Lamington Road is always crowded, so we usually get here early to beat the worst of it. We deal with a lot of different items coming through. It keeps us on our toes. The office itself is full of files and boxes most of the time. We try to keep it organized, but sometimes it gets a bit cluttered when a big shipment is expected. We’ve been in this building for a while now. Most of the people in the society know us. It’s a community feel even though it’s a big commercial block. We don’t have a lot of staff, just a few of us making sure everything arrives on time. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking lists. We just do what needs to be done every day to keep the business running. It’s hard work, but we are used to the pace of this part of Mumbai. We usually finish up late when the street noise finally starts to die down a bit.
