If you know Kurla West, you probably know how busy L B S Marg gets. Our spot in Moosa Compound, right there in the Kalina area, is always right in the middle of it. Moosa Automobiles is basically a place where we live and breathe car parts and engines. It’s greasy, it’s loud, and there is always the sound of a wrench hitting the floor or an engine revving up nearby. We’ve got piles of parts everywhere—alternators, brake pads, old gears, you name it. It might look like a mess to someone walking in from the outside, but we know exactly where every single bolt is hidden. The heat under the tin roof can get pretty intense in the summer, but we just keep the fans going and stay busy. We see all kinds of vehicles coming through, from old taxis that have seen better days to newer cars needing a quick fix. People come to us because they know we’ve been in this compound for years and we don't talk around the problem. We just look at the machine and see what’s wrong. It’s hard work on the hands, always covered in oil, but there’s a good feeling when a car finally starts up smooth after we’ve been messing with it for hours. We drink a lot of water, talk to the other mechanics in the compound, and just get through the pile of work waiting for us every morning. It's just what we do here and we've been doing it for quite a long time now.
