Monarch

Monarch is located at 115/C on Dr. Ambedkar Road in Bandra West. If you know this part of Bandra, you know it’s always got something going on. Our shop has been around for a good while, and the sign outside is starting to look a bit old, but we haven't gotten around to changing it yet. We aren’t a big fancy showroom with bright lights and people in suits. It’s just us in our regular clothes, dealing with customers who drop by. We have a lot of stuff crammed into the shelves, and sometimes it takes a moment to find exactly what someone is asking for. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, so we usually have the fan going full blast. Most of our day is spent talking to people from the neighborhood or travelers who happen to be passing through. We don't really have a big philosophy or anything. We just open up in the morning, sweep the floor, and start the day. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to say hello or hide from the rain for a few minutes. We don’t mind. It feels like a small community here even though Bandra is so big now. We just keep doing what we’ve always done, without making much of a fuss about it. It’s a lot of work, but it keeps us busy and connected to the street.
