Our office is situated on the second floor of Khaitan Chambers in Fort. The building is one of those old structures with high ceilings and heavy wooden doors. Modi Street is always packed with people and small shops selling everything you can imagine. We share the floor with a few other businesses. When you walk into our office, you’ll see rows of metal cabinets and a few desks that have been here for decades. We deal with healthcare supplies and distribution. It’s a lot of manual work, checking invoices and packing smaller items to be sent out. Fort is a historic part of Mumbai, so there’s a lot of character to the area, but it also means the plumbing and electricity can be a bit temperamental sometimes. We’ve gotten used to the quirks of the building. We usually eat our lunch together at the main table. There isn't much noise from the street once the windows are shut, which helps us concentrate. We don't have any fancy mission statements or corporate logos on the walls. It’s just a place where we come to work every morning. We take the train to CST or Churchgate and then walk the rest of the way. It’s a long day, but we’ve been doing it for years. The office feels lived-in and functional for what we need to accomplish. We keep some plants by the window to brighten things up a little bit. It is a decent place to spend our working hours.
