Mobile Zone

Mobile Zone is just one of those small shops you find around Mumbai where we try to help people with their phone problems. We’ve been in this same spot for a few years and the neighborhood has changed a lot, but we’re still here doing the same thing. It’s a busy city and everyone is always on their phone, so there is always someone coming in with a dead battery or a screen that looks like a spider web. We don't have a lot of space, so we have to keep everything organized on the walls. We sell a lot of earphones because people lose them on the trains all the time. Our shop doesn't have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that squeaks a little bit when it’s on high. We aren't some corporate store with uniforms; we just wear what we have and get to work. Sometimes we have second-hand phones for sale if someone traded one in, but they go pretty fast. We try to be fair with what we charge because we know money doesn't grow on trees. It gets really hot in the afternoons, so we usually sit near the door to catch whatever breeze comes by. It’s a simple life, just fixing what’s broken and selling what people need to stay connected. No big speeches or fancy talk, just a local shop in the middle of Mumbai that stays open until the last customer leaves.
