Mobile World

Started out small here on 4th Main. Amarjyothi Layout is mostly quiet until the afternoon hits. We get a lot of regulars from around the corner. It isn't a fancy place, just a simple room with some counters and phones. Mobile World has been sitting in this same spot for a few years now. Most mornings I spend time wiping the dust off the glass before anyone shows up. The sun hits the front window directly around noon, so it gets a bit warm inside. Sometimes the internet acts up, but we manage. People stop by to ask about screens or why their battery isn't working like it used to. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know our way around a motherboard. It’s a job like any other. The traffic on the road gets loud during rush hour. You can hear the horns all the way inside. I like seeing the same faces every day. It makes the neighborhood feel small even though Mumbai is huge. We keep a few chairs for people to sit while they wait. Nothing special, just plastic ones. It's just a regular shop where we try to get things fixed and back to the owners. We don't do much advertising. Usually, someone just tells their neighbor about us. That’s how we keep going. The sign outside is getting a bit faded now, and the door handle rattles if you pull it too hard. We should probably fix that soon.
