Mobile Point

We are right by the Gorai Bridge 1 in Vile Parle West. Being at Mobile Point means seeing a lot of broken things every single day. People come in with phones that have shattered screens or batteries that won't hold a charge for more than an hour. The shop is quite small, so there’s usually a bit of a line out the door. We have a glass counter filled with chargers, cables, and various cases. It’s a bit of a mess behind the counter with all the tiny screwdrivers and spare parts scattered around. The bridge brings in a lot of foot traffic, so it’s rarely quiet in here. We have a small radio playing in the background just to keep things moving. The air conditioner is a bit old and it rattles whenever it’s on the high setting. We spend most of our time squinting at motherboards and trying to fish out dropped screws with tweezers. It’s repetitive work. Every phone has its own set of problems. Sometimes we can't fix them, and that’s just how it goes in this trade. We tell people honestly if it’s worth the money or if they should just buy a new one. The street food smells from outside usually drift in around dinner time. We don't have a lot of staff, just a couple of us who know how to handle the tools. We just wear whatever is comfortable for sitting at a bench.
