Meet Chem

Down in Vikhroli West, inside the Adke Compound at Surya Nagar, you’ll find Meet Chem. It’s at B-16. The compound is one of those places where everyone knows everyone. It’s a bit cramped, honestly. The lanes are narrow, and if a big truck comes in, everyone else has to wait. We deal with chemicals, so we have to be careful with how we store things. The unit isn't very large, but we make the most of the space we have. There are shelves reaching up to the ceiling and a small desk where we handle the billing. It’s often a bit messy with sample bottles and ledgers. We don't have a fancy reception area or anyone to open the door for you. You just walk in and talk to whoever is standing there. Most of us have been in this trade for years, so we know the smells and the names of the compounds by heart. The heat in the afternoon can be a bit much, but we have a small cooler that does its best. We usually get our tea from the stall at the corner of the compound. It’s a humble operation. We don’t put on airs or pretend to be more than we are. We just supply the chemicals people need and try to keep our customers happy so they come back to the compound next time. It’s just us doing what we’ve done for a decade, surrounded by the usual noise of Vikhroli.
