MAYURI MECHANICAL WORKS

This is Mayuri Mechanical Works over in Sawant Estate-B. We are located on Pakadi Road, which is right near Charkop in Kandivali West. It’s a bit of an industrial area, so there is always something being fixed or moved around outside our doors. We have been in this unit, C/5, for a good stretch of time. The shop is usually full of grease and heavy tools, which is just how a mechanical place should be, I think. Most of our day is spent working on different machines and various metal parts. It gets quite loud with the engines and the clanking sounds. We don’t really do much talking, mostly just focusing on whatever project is sitting on the bench that day. People bring in things that are broken or just need a bit of adjustment to work right again. It is a lot of hands-on work. Sometimes we get parts that are really old and it is hard to find pieces for them, so we have to get a bit creative with the repairs. The heat can be a bit much in the afternoons, but we just keep the fans going and stay busy. Being in Sawant Estate means we have other shops around us, so there is always a bit of community here. We know the guys next door and sometimes borrow a tool if we are missing something specific. It is a simple setup. We open up early and stay until the work is finished.
