You can find us at Matruroon Agri Products And Cold Storage on the ground floor of Om Vaibhav CHS. We are right off Lokmanya Vidya Mandir in Mahim West. Being near the school means it gets quite busy with kids and parents during certain times of the day. Our main thing is keeping agri products fresh, so we have cold storage units that run all the time. The hum of the cooling machines is the soundtrack to our day. It’s a lot of physical work, moving crates and checking temperatures to make sure nothing spoils. The floor is usually a bit wet from the condensation, and we have to be careful not to slip. We aren’t a giant corporation, just a few of us making sure the food stays cold and safe. We deal with different kinds of produce and it changes with the seasons. Sometimes the trucks have a hard time navigating Bhandar Galli because it’s quite narrow, but we manage to get things unloaded. The office part of the flat is small and mostly used for keeping the ledger and answering the phone. We don’t have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We just rely on doing a decent job so people keep coming back. It’s a practical business and we take it one day at a time. The humidity in Mumbai makes our job a bit harder, but that’s just how it is.
