Masina Hospital Polyclinic

We are over at the Masina Hospital Polyclinic on Sant Savta Marg in Byculla East. It’s a bit different from the main hospital nearby because we handle a lot of the outpatients and consultations here. The space is often full of people waiting to see different specialists. It’s a lot of scheduling and rescheduling, and trying to make sure the doctors are in their rooms when they say they will be. The street outside is always noisy with taxis and bikes, so it’s a bit quieter once you step inside, though not by much. We have a lot of regular patients who have been coming to us for years. They know the staff and we know their families. It feels very local in that way. We aren’t a corporate chain with shiny glass walls. Our floors are a bit worn from all the feet walking over them, and the furniture is simple. We deal with all sorts of health issues throughout the day. Sometimes it’s just a quick check, other times it takes much longer. We don’t really have a polished routine; we just adapt to whoever walks in. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going at full speed. Managing the files and the appointments takes up most of our energy. We just aim to be a reliable place for the people in Byculla to come when they need a doctor’s opinion without having to go too far from home.
