Mascot Engineering Company is tucked away in the Shah Nahar Industrial Premises at number 317. We’re just off Dr. E Moses Road in Worli. If you know Worli, you know it can be a bit of a maze with all the traffic and the old industrial buildings, but we’ve been in this spot for quite some time now. Our space is filled with tools and parts that have been around as long as some of the staff. We do engineering work, which basically means we’re always looking at drawings or trying to figure out why a particular part isn't behaving. It’s a lot of manual work and getting your hands a bit greasy is just part of the daily life here. The building itself has that old Mumbai feel to it, where everyone knows their neighbors in the next unit over. We often share a tea or just nod as we pass each other in the hallways. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy things about us. We just do the work that comes in and hope the machines keep running smooth. Sometimes the power goes or the rain gets heavy and leaks a bit near the window, but we just move the desk and keep going. It’s a simple way to run a business, focusing on the metal and the mechanics of it all. Most days end with us just cleaning up the floor and locking the heavy steel door.
