Worli is a part of Mumbai that never really stops moving, and Dr A B Road is right in the thick of it. Our hospital sits there, and you can hear the constant sound of cars and buses all day long. It is an old building, and you can really tell by the way the walls are built and how high the ceilings are. There is a lot of history in a place like this. People come in from all over the city, though many are from the nearby apartments and chawls. Since this is an Ayurvedic hospital, things are a bit different than what you might find in a general medical center. The smell of various herbs and medicinal oils is always hanging in the air. The corridors are quite wide but they still get crowded with people waiting for their appointments. We still use those old-fashioned metal cupboards to store all the patient files. It is a very busy and functional atmosphere. There are no fancy lounge areas or soft carpets here. You just find a spot on a wooden bench and wait for your turn. The staff here has been around for a long time, and everyone knows the daily routine by heart. Sometimes the elevators are a bit slow, so most of us just take the stairs to get between floors. The floors are cleaned every morning, but they still look old. It is just a solid, practical part of the neighborhood.
