Maiyabandhani

Our shop, Maiyabandhani, is located on Station Road in Malad West. We are on the first floor of the R. D Building, using units 3 and 5. Being so close to the station means there is never a quiet moment outside. You can always hear the announcements from the platforms and the constant rush of people on the street. Inside our space, things are a bit different. It is filled with the smell of dyes and rows upon rows of colorful fabrics. We specialize in Bandhani, which is all about the traditional tie-dye patterns that have been around forever. Each piece we have is unique because they are made by hand, so you might find small imperfections here and there, but that is just part of the craft. We do not have a big corporate setup. It is just a few of us who know a lot about textiles and enjoy showing customers the different designs we have available. Most of our days are spent unfolding sarees for people to see and then carefully folding them back up. It is a lot of manual work and it can be tiring for the arms, but we have been doing it for a long time. We do not spend money on big advertisements; we just rely on people walking in and liking what they see. It is a simple, honest way to run a business in Mumbai, and we are happy to keep it going.
