India Garment is sitting right at No. 3 in the Parmarth Shopping Centre. We are in Ismail Baug, which is directly opposite the railway station in Malad West. Being so close to the station means we see thousands of people passing by every single hour. The noise of the trains is something you just stop hearing after a week of working here. Our shop is small, and we try to keep it organized, but things tend to pile up when we get busy. The shopping centre is an older one, so it has that specific smell of concrete and old shops. We spend our time dealing with customers and sorting through the stock we have on the shelves. Most days, it’s just the usual routine of opening up, dusting the counters, and waiting for the first delivery to arrive. We don’t have fancy lighting or expensive displays. It’s just a honest place where we do our business. Sometimes we stand outside the door just to watch the crowd at the station for a minute. The landlord is a decent person who stops by once a month. We’ve been in this Malad West spot for quite some time now, so all the regular commuters recognize our face even if they don’t stop in. It’s a very grounded way to work, right in the middle of all that hustle and bustle. We just keep at it until the sun goes down.
