La Trendz

We are based in Achhey Cottage, in Room No. 5. This is inside the John Dominic Compound, which is located behind the Jain Temple in Kurar Village, Malad East. It’s a bit of a maze to get back here if you don’t know the area well. We are right in the heart of the village. The room is small and we have it filled with different fabrics and clothes. It’s a busy little spot. We spend most of our hours cutting, sewing, and checking the latest things that people are wearing. Being behind the Jain Temple makes it a bit quieter than the main road, but Malad is never truly silent. There are always kids playing outside or people moving goods through the compound. We’ve been in this room for quite a while now. We don’t have a big storefront with glass windows. It’s more like a workshop where the actual work happens. Sometimes the pile of clothes gets so high we barely have room to sit, but we manage. We know our neighbors well and we often share news over the fence. It’s a very local way of doing things. We just try to keep up with the orders that come in from the nearby shops. It’s a lot of hours on the machines, but we like seeing the final product ready to go. We stay focused on our daily tasks and hope for a good season.
