Genotronics

Getting up to the third floor of the National Storage Building can be a bit of a workout if the lift is acting up, which happens more than we’d like. We are in Gala No. 328. Sardar Patel Road is always loud, and the Mahim area stays active from early morning until late. The building itself has that old industrial feel to it, lots of concrete and heavy doors. We’ve got Genotronics set up here with all our stuff squeezed into the unit. It’s not a huge place but we make it work. Most days it’s just the sound of the fans and someone typing or moving boxes around. The tea stall downstairs is where most of us end up at least once a day. You get to know the other people in the building after a while, though everyone is mostly busy with their own thing. Sometimes we have trouble with the courier guys finding the right entrance because the building is quite large. We’ve been here long enough that the walls feel familiar. The paint is peeling a bit in the corner near the window. We don't really do much in the way of decorating. It’s more about having a place to sit and handle the daily tasks. Mahim is a convenient spot for us, even with the congestion. We just come in, do what needs doing, and head home when the sun goes down. It’s a simple life and we don't ask for much more than that. The desk chair I use has a squeak that I’ve been meaning to fix for months.
