Mahesh Tansport operates out of Parekhwadi in Malad West, which is a pretty well-known spot if you live in this suburb. Our place is right opposite Shantilal and very close to the Chatrabuj Petrol Pump. That petrol pump is actually a great landmark because people always get lost trying to find the specific lane in Parekhwadi. It’s a dusty area, mostly because of all the vehicles moving in and out. Being in the transport business, we’re used to the grit and the noise. Our office is simple—just a few chairs, a big desk, and a lot of logbooks. We don't have air conditioning that works all the time, so the windows stay open and we hear everything happening on the street. You’ll usually find a few drivers hanging around outside waiting for their next route. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We don’t do things in a very formal way; it’s more about knowing the routes and making sure the trucks are where they need to be. Sometimes the traffic in Malad is a nightmare and everything gets delayed, which means we spend half the day on the phone trying to fix things. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We’ve been in this same spot for years, and the neighbors all know us. It’s a bit chaotic, but it’s our version of normal. We usually have tea together in the afternoon and plan out the next day’s trips for everyone.
