You can find us at Shop No 10 on the ground floor in Kalbadevi. We are right near the Mumbadevi Temple, so the area is always crowded and full of energy. It’s the kind of place where there’s always a bell ringing or someone shouting for a rickshaw to move. We work with gems. It’s a small shop, but it’s ours. We spend a lot of time looking at stones through magnifying glasses and weighing things out on small scales. Dealing with gems is a lot about patience and having a good eye for detail. The lighting in the shop has to be just right, otherwise, you can’t see what you’re doing. It gets dusty outside because of the traffic in Kalbadevi, so we’re always wiping down the glass counters. People come in looking for specific stones for all sorts of reasons. Some know exactly what they want, others are just curious. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s usually just a couple of us here, sitting behind the counter. Sometimes it’s quiet, and other times it’s a total scramble when three people walk in at once. We like being in this part of Mumbai. There is so much history around the temple. We’ve been here long enough that the neighbors know us. It’s a simple setup. We keep the inventory safe and try to be honest about what we have in stock.
