We operate out of Building No 114/116 in the Desai Market area of Fort. It’s one of those old buildings with a lot of character and narrow hallways. Mahalaxmi Shipping Agency has been here for a good amount of time, tucked away among all the other offices. Fort is always bustling, and the sound of the streets definitely makes its way into our rooms. We spend our days dealing with shipping documents, customs forms, and endless phone calls to the docks. The office is crowded with cabinets full of old files because in this business, you never know when you might need to check something from years ago. It’s a bit of a climb to get up here, but we like the location because it’s right in the middle of everything. We don't have any fancy signs or neon lights. People who need us usually know exactly where to find the Desai Market. The desks are covered in stamps and pens, and there’s always a kettle going for tea. It’s not a high-speed corporate environment, just a steady place where the paperwork gets processed one page at a time. We know the routines of the port and the local authorities quite well. It’s a lot of waiting and then a lot of rushing, which is just the nature of shipping. We stay busy and keep the agency running as best as we can.
