Madan Soni

Goregaon West is a maze, and we are right in the middle of it on the 9th Main. Specifically, Madan Soni is located at 4th Cross, Hal 2nd Stage, B 14 16. It’s a mouthful of an address, and even the delivery drivers get lost sometimes looking for the right building. The building B 14 16 is an older one, with some cracks in the plaster and a heavy iron gate that squeaks every time it opens and closes. We occupy a small space on the ground floor. It’s usually filled with the smell of whatever the neighbors are cooking for their lunch. The 9th Main is always crowded with scooters and people walking to the local market nearby. Inside our spot, it’s a bit more peaceful, though we have a lot of stuff shoved into the corners because we run out of space. Madan Soni is usually busy with his hands, working on something at the wooden workbench while the old radio plays softly in the back. We have some old calendars on the wall that have been there for a decade. The light is a bit dim because we only have one small window looking out, but it’s enough for what we do here. We don’t get many strangers coming in, mostly just people who have been told where to find us. It’s a bit of a trek to get here through the traffic, but we like the neighborhood and the people around.
