You can find us at Maaz Centre right on Dr Ambedkar Road in Bandra West. We are shop number three, tucked in next to the Pali Village Cafe. If you’re standing at Pali Naka and see The Shop across the street, you’ve found us. The neighborhood is always moving and there is always someone looking for a quick fix or a complete change with their hair. It’s a small space, so things can get a bit cramped when we have a full house. We don’t mind it much though. The smell of hair products is pretty much stuck in the walls at this point. We spend our days handling scissors and combs, trying to make sure everyone who sits in the chair gets what they came for. It’s a lot of manual labor, really. Your wrists get tired after a few hours of blow-drying. We don’t put on any acts here. It’s just a local salon where we know the names of the people who live down the street. The floor is usually a mess of different hair colors until the end of the shift. We try to keep the music going to drown out some of the street noise from Pali Naka. It’s just how a Bandra shop usually feels—busy, a little loud, and always something going on in the background while we work. We don't have a lot of space for waiting, so people often stand outside and chat while they wait for their turn.
